Living AccommodationsCastlewood at The Highlands' program provides apartment accommodations for clients in need of housing in the partial hospitalization program (PHP) level of care or the intensive outpatient program (IOP) level of care. Castlewood believes strongly in the positive recovery impact of peer support and the importance of developing life skills during this stage of recovery. Beginning July 1, 2016 our recovery apartments will be available for a small fee. Both non-local and local clients can take advantage of our living accommodations during their treatment at Castlewood at The Highlands. For minor clients and their families not from the local area, we have secured a discounted rate at a local extended stay hotel if living accommodations are needed during treatment.
Apartment FeaturesPeer support and increased autonomy utilizing healthy life skills and eating behaviors, are important parts of an eating disorder program. Castlewood at the Highlands' apartments encourage these healthy aspects of recovery, in a comfortably shared apartment setting. Each two-bedroom, two-bath apartment is light-filled and spacious, with open floor plans that feature a beautifully decorated living room, modern kitchen, and private balcony. Apartments are smoke-free, just as Castlewood at The Highlands is a non-smoking facility. Clients are encouraged not to smoke during treatment, but if an individual is unable to abstain, they may smoke in designated outdoor areas on the apartment grounds. Although every attempt is made to provide clients with a private bedroom, apartments are designed for up to four client peers. Each bedroom has two twin beds. Clients should be aware that at any time during their stay they may be required to share a bedroom with another client in recovery. While The Highlands supports the need for privacy, and understands that many clients in eating disorder recovery prefer a single bedroom, giving and receiving peer support is an essential part of the treatment program environment. Free Wi-Fi is available in each apartment, and clients are free to bring a personal laptop. Clients may also bring a personal car, but will be required to register their car with the apartment office.
Apartment AmenitiesEach of Castlewood at the Highlands' apartments features furniture, linens, and necessary kitchen items. Food stables such as sugar, flour, and cooking spray are provided, but clients are responsible for providing any perishable food for meals not provided at the main therapy center (and that adhere to their individual meal plan.) Due to the wide range of preference in cleaning supplies and bathroom tissue, clients must also provide these items. Apartment amenities include:
